In vitro evaluation of electrochemically bioactivated Ti6Al4V 3D porous scaffolds

Triply periodic minimal surfaces (TPMS) are known for their advanced mechanical properties and wrinkle-free with a smooth local topology. These provide suitable conditions cell attachment proliferation. In this study, the in vitro osteoinductive antibacterial of scaffolds different pore diameters architectures were investigated. For first time, TPMS architecture treated electrochemically by plasma electrolytic oxidation (PEO) without silver nanoparticles (AgNPs) to enhance surface bioactivity. It was found that scaffold had greater impact on osteoblast activity than size. Through control type, collagen production cells increased 18.9% 43.0% case additional PEO bioactivation. The manufactured demonstrated an extremely low quasi-elastic modulus (comparable trabecular cortical bone), which 5–10 times lower bulk titanium (6.4–11.4 GPa vs 100–105 GPa). AgNPs provided against both gram-positive gram-negative bacteria no significant growth. Complex experimental results show effectiveness PEO-modified architecture, could positively clinical applications porous bioactive implants.
